Quarterback Alex Smith from The University of Utah was the first pick of the 2005 NFL Draft. Alex was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers.
Alex started for the Utes his last two years in college. Over his career he passed for 5,203 yards, 47 TDs, and 8 interceptions. His senior year he was fourth in Heisman Voting and his team went undefeated. Urban Meyer was his coach.
Alex was drafted by the 49ers and played there for eight season losing his starting job to Colin Kaepernick in the 2012 Season. He presently plays of the Kansas City Chiefs. He has thrown for 24,344 yards, 142 Tds, and 83 interceptions over his career. His overall passer rating is 84.5. He made the Pro Bowl in 2013. He is 2-3 in the NFL Playoffs. He has had a fine career. A Super Bowl win would most certainly boost his legacy. Time will tell.
