Running Back Tucker Frederickson from Auburn was the first pick of the 1965 NFL Draft. Tucker was drafted by the New York Giants. Wide Receiver Lawrence Elkins from Baylor was the first pick of the 1965 AFL Draft*. Lawrence was drafted by the Houston Oilers.

In 1964 Tucker was an All-American and runner-up for the Heisman Trophy. He played both ways and led the team in interceptions on defense.

Tucker played in the NFL for six years. He was a Pro-Bowler in 1965. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.

Elkins was consensus All-American in 1963 and 1964. He set an NCAA record with 70 catches in 1963.

Lawrence played in the NFL for two seasons, but his career never took off in the NFL. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
