Running Back George Rogers from South Carolina was the first pick of the 1981 NFL Draft. George was drafted by the New Orleans Saints.

George had the most rushing yards in the country his senior season, was an AP All-American, and won the Heisman Trophy.

George played in the NFL for seven years, was a two-time Pro-Bowler, and won Super Bowl XXII as a Washington Redskin. He had a fine NFL career rushing for 7,176 yards and 54 touchdowns. Nagging injuries ended his career at the end of the 1987 season.

Rogers is in the College Football Hall of Fame.
