Defensive end Bruce Smith from Virginia Tech was the first pick of the 1985 NFL Draft. Bruce was drafted by the Buffalo Bills.

Smith had 46 career sacks as a Hokie. His senior year he was a consensus All-American and won the Outland trophy.

Smith had an 18 year NFL career. He was an 11-time Pro-Bowler. He had 200 career sacks over his NFL career. He is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
