The Auburn Tigers are ranked 6th in the AP coming into the 2015 season. Here is some raw data:

2014 Team Rankings
#22 Overall in the AP
Points scored per game: 35.3 (27th of 128)
Points allowed per game: 26.7 (64th of 128)
Six starters returning on offense
Eight starters returning on defense

Returning player stats (class rank is this year’s and data is for 2014)
Jonathan Jones – DB - Senior - Tackles: 23 solo, 36 total - Pass defense: 6 interceptions, 9 passes defended – SEC All-Conference
D'haquille Williams – WR – Senior – Receiving: 45 passes caught, 730 yards, 16.2 yards per reception, 5 TDs
Montravius Adams – DT - Junior – Tackles: 26 solo, 42 total, 7 for a loss, 3 sacks

Some people say Auburn is rated too high. Clearly most people believe Gus Malzahn can work his offensive genius on the new QB. There is also belief that the new defensive coordinator, Will Muschamp, can turn this defense around after finishing in the middle of the pack in 2014. These are also the keys to whether Auburn will have a successful season or not.
