Twelve schools would add Division One college football to their sports programs in the 1910s.

The most notable addition to the college football ranks were the UCLA Bruins who started their program in 1919, as well as the formation of the Pacific Coast Conference, a precursor to the modern Pacific-12 Conference in 1916.

Fourteen different teams would claim the National Championship over this decade: Princeton; Harvard; Michigan; Chicago; Pitt; Auburn; Army, Illinois; Texas; Cornell; Oklahoma; Georgia Tech; Centre; Notre Dame; and Texas A&M. It also saw the emergence of the Pittsburgh Panthers as a national powerhouse in football as they won four national championships during this decade led by legendary Coach Pop Warner.
