Derrick Henry led the Alabama Crimson Tide to a National Championship. For the 2015 season he rushed for 2,219 yards for a 5.6 yards-per-carry average. He played in 15 games with 28 TDs and caught 11 passes for 91 yards. His great achievement is winning the Heisman trophy.

This was Henry’s last season with the Crimson Tide as he will be entering the NFL draft; this is a good decision as there is nothing left for him to prove in college. He is projected as the 37th overall pick and will go either in the 1st or 2nd round. To some it would seem that this is too low for what he has accomplished in college; but, presently, it is the way NFL ranks running backs. The NFL generally does not draft running backs in the first round.

Derrick’s rushing yards this year put him in fifth place for the all-time rushing record. However, Barry Sanders is still in first place for a single season rushing record with 2,628 yards. He accomplished that in ELEVEN games vs. 15 for Henry.
