Ohio State’s victory last weekend over Indiana (34-27) was enough to keep Ohio State as the AP #1. This victory last weekend then tied them with the Oklahoma Sooners for being on the AP #1 the most weeks total since the APs inception.

Which then begs the question which team’s run in the AP is more impressive?
To really dig into this question you can look at the AP archive:
http://collegepollarchive.com/football/ap/teams/
Our thinking on this is: Who finished the season with the most AP #1s at the end of the year?
Oklahoma has finished the season as the AP #1 seven times in 1950, 1955-1956, 1974-1975, 1985, and 2000.
Ohio State has finished as the AP #1 five times in 1942, 1954, 1968, 2002, and 2014. So, regardless of what happens this week, the Buckeyes still need three final season AP #1s to pass the Sooners.
With Ohio State playing the dysfunctional Maryland Terrapins this week, it is very likely Ohio State will remain the AP #1 and thereby currently stay alone as the team with the most weeks as AP #1.
Our guess is that the real question is: Can Ohio State finish there at the end of the season?
What do you think?
