Historical Cupcake Games - The Highest Scoring Game in College Football (Factoid 640)

We have been writing a lot about Cupcake Games. Turns out there were plenty back in the day as well.

In 1916 the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets beat Cumberland Bulldogs by a score of 222 to 0. That is 31 TDs, 30 extra points, and two field goals.

It is interesting to note that the top seven scoring games all occurred in a six-year span. After that, more competitive scheduling was exercised because no one was interested in these types of blowouts.
