OUT!

FIRINGS

Baylor - Art Briles – 65/37 @ Baylor
He was fired before the season began due to scandal.

LSU - Les Miles – 114/34 @ LSU
First to fall during the season.

Texas- Charlie Strong – 16/21 @ Texas
Three losing seasons won’t cut it in Austin. Bye bye!

Oregon - Mark Helfrich – 24/12 @ Oregon
You can only ride a former coach’s coattails for so long.

BIGGER PASTURES

Houston – Tom Herman – 22/4 @ Houston
Took Charlie Strong’s old job. He was doing great at Houston!

WHO CARES?

FAU - Charlie Partridge – 9/27 @ FAU
FIU - Ron Turner – 10/30 @FIU
Fresno State - Tim DeRuyter – 30/30 @ Fresno State
Georgia State - Trent Miles – 9/38 @ Georiga State
Nevada - Brian Polian – 23/27 @ Nevada

IN!

LSU - Ed Orgeron
Previous: DL line coach for LSU.
Prediction: He will uplift the program a few years, but ultimately will be fired.

Texas - Tom Herman
Previous: Head coach for the Houston Cougars.
Prediction: He was 22-4 at Houston. Imagine what he can do with Texas. He will do great!

Fresno State - Jeff Tedford
Previous: Head coach at Cal with a 82–57 record.
Prediction: He is the right man to bring back Fresno State.

FIU - Butch Davis
Previous: Head coach for Miami of Florida, North Carolina, and the NFL’s Cleveland Browns. He has a 63/43 record in college and a 24/35 record in the NFL.
Prediction: Butch has the experience. FIU is trying to make it in the FBS. We think he will make them semi-respectable.

THE DOOR’S A SWINGING

Faniacs is predicting these guys will be let go before next season.
Notre Dame – Brian Kelly – 59/31 @ Notre Dame
Reason: 4/8 this season, scandal, and seven years has shown he can’t get the talent Notre Dame dreams of to return to the Glory Year. Yes, we understand the Glory Years were more than a quarter of a century ago, but still you got have goals!

Tennessee – Butch Jones –29/21 @ Tennessee
Reason: mediocrity builds contempt. His best season he went 9-4. He is not getting the recruits. This firing and a new hiring would be what the SEC needs to bring balance back into the SEC.

Arkansas– Bret Bielema – 25/25 @ Arkansas
Reason: mediocrity builds contempt. His best season he went 8-5. He is not getting the recruits. This firing and a new hiring would be what the SEC needs to bring balance back into the SEC. His predecessor, Bobby Petrino had built a solid program with top 20 rankings and ten win seasons. Bielema is being paid too much for his performance; this will cost him his job.

Rutgers – Chris Ash – 2/10 @ Rutgers
Reason: 2/10 this season, 0-9 in the Big Ten, embarrassing loses to Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and Michigan State. He was not ready for the big time. See you later!

These are the ones we see not making it to the 2017 season. Here is a complete list of coaches on the hot seat:

THE DOOR IS OPEN

These are the top three coaches we see being hired to coach elsewhere before the 2017 season begins.
P.J. Fleck - Western Michigan - 29/21 @ Western Michigan
Reason: P.J.’s first year his team was 1-11, in his fourth-year Western Michigan is 12-0 heading into the MAC Conference Championship game. He is so hot there are sparks coming off of his jacket.
Where will he end up? Since P.J. can pick and choose we are predicting Tennessee. Tennessee is easy to recruit, whereas Notre Dame not so much anymore.

Ken Niumatalolo - Navy - 77/39 @ Navy
Reason: Ken had an 11-2 season last year and is on pace to do the same again this year, this year he could go 12-2. Navy upset sixth ranked Houston (at the time), beat Notre Dame, and have annihilated teams: 75-31 over SMU; 66-31 over ECU; and 42-28 over Memphis. Ken is ready to move up the coaching ranks!
Where will he end up? Ken ends in Oregon. It is a perfect fit. Ken is innovative. It will be a pleasure to see what schemes he brings to Oregon’s offense and the talent he will be able to recruit.

Matt Rhule – Temple - 27/23 @ Temple
Reason: Rhule has taken the Owl’s from a 2-10 first season to 10-4 last year and 9-3 presently. Temple is a traditional dormat, but Matt put them on the map.
Where will he end up? Matt ends up in Notre Dame. Why? Because he will be the best coach available and Notre Dame needs a change. Coach Rhule is ready for the challenge and should do well at Notre Dame.

DON’T GET COMFORTABLE

Here is Faniacs prediction on coaches who will be in trouble next year.
Jim Harbaugh – Michigan – 20/5 @ Michigan
Reason: What? Jim Harbaugh? Yes, that is correct. Why? He will lose to Ohio State again and then Michigan will get tired or his antics. Simple as that.

Georgia - Kirby Smart – 7/5 @ Georgia
Reason: Georgia was unimpressive this year and will be so next year. Georgia made a mistake hiring him.

Illinois – Lovie Smith – 3/9 @ Illinois
Reason: The Big Ten is brutal. Smith is unprepared for college. Actually, we think he takes an NFL job in January, there will be many openings. If doesn’t take the job he will be fired in 2017.

FANIACS TAKEAWAYS

Coaching College Football is lucrative, but rough with the high salaries come high expectations. The SEC needs a new breath of coaches to challenge Nick Saban; they will come, but first coaches have to be fired. It could get brutal.

Oregon will hire the right coach and be back, Texas has already done so, and so the competitive nature of College Football continues.
