This past Saturday, October 15, 2016, J.T. Barrett broke Braxton Miller’s touchdowns responsible for record of 88 in very dramatic fashion. In overtime on 3rd and 2 J.T. Barret threw a beautifully “lobbed” pass to Noah Brown in the corner of the end zone, giving OSU the lead, this was his 89th TD responsible for and a great way to beat the record. OSU went on to defend on Wisconsin’s OT possession and win the game. Kudos to the NCAA for coming up with the OT rules!

J.T. is in the chase for the Heisman. At this time there is no clear winner and a plethora of competition, but J.T. can take care of his end. Here is what he needs to do:

1. Take his team to the playoffs with wins vs. Michigan, Nebraska, and the Conference Championship opponent.
2. Continue running as he has.
3. Improve his passing stats. J.T. has thrown for 1,207 yards and 16 TDs. He probably needs another 1,500 yards and 20 TDs to win the Heisman, which is very possible, but the competition in DeShaun Watson (Clemson), Lamar Jackson (Louisville), Jabrill Peppers (Michigan), and Jake Browning (Washington) is not going to gift this to him.
