Washington Wins

Washington beats Colorado by a score of 41-8. The Huskies were dominant. The game was never in doubt; helped by the early injury that kept Sefo Liufau out of the game for a while and hobbled him throughout the contest. Sefo Liufau completed only 3 of 13 passes for a total of 21 yards, ran for only 13 yards, and threw three interceptions. (Two of which the receivers should have caught, but tipped instead).
While the score might lead one to believe Jake Browning had a great game, not really. Jake Browning was only 9 of 21 for 118 years, but did throw two TDs and no INTs, nonetheless though not a great performance.

Playoff Implications

The Huskies are in. They have the record, the Conference Championship, a dominant performance last night, and the PAC-12 fighting for them; and last night they were dominant enough to keep their #4 ranking. The Playoff Committee won’t bump them down no matter what the talk of criteria is and so forth, just simply because the Pac-12 has pull. There will be talk of Michigan in the committee, but they lost to Ohio State, which makes easy not to put them ahead of Washington.

One More Spot Left

Faniacs thinks there is one more spot left. It is Clemson’s to lose; they must win to get in, that is it. If Clemson loses they are out.

If Clemson does lose it gets interesting, but essentially it will come down to the Big Ten Conference Champion or Michigan. Wouldn’t that be an interesting conundrum? The winner of Bedlam, Oklahoma or Oklahoma State, will not be in the playoff discussion; the Big 12 lost this battle due to ist loses in the non-conference games and its lack of defense.

Hats Off to Western Michigan

Congrats to P.J. Fleck and his Western Michigan Broncos! They won 29-23; costly turnovers made the game interesting, but Western led the whole way.

The Broncos are 13-0 with wins over TWO BIG TEN SCHOOLS! They are going to a New Year’s Day Bowl Game. No chance for the Playoffs though, but quite frankly they would get killed, so best that they won’t get consideration.
